On Friday, May 17, 2024, the Jockey Club 'Spark & Spot' Project hosted a successful tea reception at Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education. The event took place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and was attended by approximately 54 guests, including representatives from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, four school sponsoring bodies (Caritas Hong Kong, Hong Kong Christian Service, Hong Kong Young Women's Christian Association, and The Salvation Army) and the participating schools for Cohort 1 of the Project.

The reception served as a valuable opportunity for attendees to network and foster connections within the educational community. Participants engaged in discussions that highlighted the importance of collaboration in enhancing early childhood education.

Furthermore, Dr Rohnii Tse, Project Director and Professor Allan Yuen, president of Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education welcomed attendees and provided a brief introduction to the project, providing insights into its goals and objectives. The Project aims to deliver a comprehensive blended-mode professional development tailored for kindergarten teachers and focuses on three main components including professional development core modules which will rely on online and in-class coaching, whole school multisensory environmental design for catering to diverse learning needs, and a community of practice and knowledge sharing.

In addition to the presentation, attendees were invited to participate in a short activity to stimulate their creativity! Attendees were asked to write or draw on a spark-shaped card (derived from the Project's logo) based on the prompt 'what is the most important thing for a child?'

Overall, the reception was a resounding success, marking a significant step for the launch of the Project, and fostering meaningful connections and collaborations among the participating schools.
